RACE REPORT: Schatz Wins Oil City Cup Finale

There are not too many things that have been able to slow Donny Schatz down this season. A severe cold tried to derail him this week, but could not. Also, Mother Nature tried her best as the finale of the inaugural Oil City Cup for the World of Outlaws at Castrol Raceway was postponed one day due to heavy rain.

RACE REPORT: Tatnell Wins at Skagit Speedway

If it wasn’t for bad luck, Brooke Tatnell wouldn’t have any luck at all this season. He had been close to winning a couple of times this season with the World of Outlaws, only to have a tire go down or other problems out of his control plague him. He turned this luck around on Friday night at Skagit Speedway, picking up the win in the opener of the two-day event at the track located in the scenic Pacific Northwest.

RACE REPORT: Shane Stewart Wins at Grays Harbor Raceway

Shane Stewart has truly been an outlaw this season. He has raced from coast-to-coast in a number of different cars and has had success in every machine that he has climbed into. He added to his impressive season on Monday night, earning his first World of Outlaws win of 2007 in just nine starts with the series, taking the checkered flag at Grays Harbor Speedway in Elma, Washington.

RACE REPORT: Saldana Wins at Cottage Grove Speedway

Joey Saldana made history twice on Wednesday night at Cottage Grove Speedway in Oregon. He became the first driver to turn a sub 10-second lap in time trials at the high-banked ¼-mile. He followed that up by winning the A-Feature in front of the largest crowd in the 50-plus year history of the track to add another chapter to the storied tradition of the facility which has one of the most picturesque settings in all of racing, nestled between a river and a forest.

RACE REPORT: McMahan Wins at Cedar Lake Speedway

Paul McMahan spent more time on the track Sunday night in hot laps, time trials and the third heat race, than he did in the A-Feature at Cedar Lake Speedway. In the World of Outlaws return to the high-banked 3/8-mile, the checkered flag flew on a non-stop 30-lap A-Feature in just over six and a half minutes.

RACE REPORT: Haudenschild Wins Brad Doty Classic

Jac Haudenschild vividly remembers competing against Brad Doty in World of Outlaws competition in the early and mid-1980’s. The pair of Ohio natives have long been friends off the track and Haudenschild always enjoys racing in the annual event that bears the name of the 1982 World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year.

RACE REPORT: Kinser Wins Knight Before the Kings Royal

Steve Kinser holds a lot of records with the World of Outlaws. One of the most impressive is the number of wins that he has accumulated at the famed Eldora Speedway. The 20-time series champion in the winningest driver in the history of the track, with over 30 of those coming in World of Outlaws A-Feature events. His first win at the high-banked half-mile came in 1978, the series inaugural season and the most recent was in 2005.
