Pittman Wins 2013 World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series Championship at World Finals in Charlotte

In front of sold out stands, McMahan charges to his fourth victory in season finale

CONCORD, N.C. – Nov. 9, 2013 – Daryn Pittman did what he needed to do on Saturday night at the World of Outlaws World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte to edge Donny Schatz for the 2013 World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series championship as Paul McMahan drove to victory for the fourth time this season.

Pittman finished 12th in the season finale at the sold-out track in the heart of NASCAR country to become the ninth different World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series champion in 36 years, holding onto a 14-point advantage over Schatz when the final checkered flag of the season waved, making it the closest finish in series history. It is the first World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series title for Pittman as well as for Kasey Kahne Racing.

CONCORD, NC – Nov. 9, 2013 – Josh Richards capped his World of Outlaws Late Model Series championship season in style, scoring a powerful victory in Saturday night’s 50-lap World of Outlaws World Finals finale at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

With the pressure of points racing removed after clinching his third career WoO LMS title the previous night, Richards calmly roared off the pole position to lead the A-Main from start-to-finish in his father Mark’s Valvoline-sponsored Rocket Chassis house car. He turned back challenges from John Blankenship of Williamson, W.Va., and Rick Eckert of York, Pa., to register his 10th triumph of 2013 and the 49th of his career on the national tour.

Schatz Drives to 23rd World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series Victory of the Season, Tightens Championship Battle

Five-time champ star now winningest driver in The Dirt Track at Charlotte history 

CONCORD, N.C. – Nov. 8, 2013 – Donny Schatz knows what it takes to win a World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series championship and he’s not going to make it easy on Daryn Pittman, who’s trying to win his first crown. Schatz, a five-time champ, worked past Brian Brown on Friday night at the World of Outlaws World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte to win for the 23rd time this season, and slice into Pittman’s lead in the championship with only Saturday’s race remaining.

Schatz trails Pittman, who was sixth on Friday night, by 36 points or 18 positions on the track. However, Schatz has already earned four qualifying points for Saturday night’s race and owns the tiebreaker with the win total he’s amassed this season. All factored in, if Pittman finishes no worse than 15th he will clinch his first championship and the first World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series title for Kasey Kahne Racing.

CONCORD, NC – Nov. 8, 2013 – Darrell Lanigan of Union, Ky., finally reached Victory Lane at The Dirt Track at Charlotte with a flawless performance in Friday night’s 50-lap World of Outlaws World Finals A-Main.

Hitting paydirt in his 21st career start at the four-tenths-mile oval, Lanigan burst off the pole position to grab the lead at the start of the event and never looked back. He kept Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, Tenn., at bay late in the distance to register his long-awaited first-ever triumph at The Dirt Track and his tour-leading 12th win of the 2013 World of Outlaws Late Model Series campaign.

Meyers, McMahan Top World Finals Qualifying Rounds at Charlotte

Schatz comes up big with two-second place qualifying efforts in final two rounds of the season

CONCORD, N.C. – Nov. 7, 2013 – Two-time World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series champion Jason Meyers and this year’s leading qualifier Paul McMahan set the pace on Thursday’s qualifying night to kick off the seventh annual World of Outlaws World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.                         

Meyers, in the Kasey Kahne Racing Ollie’s Bargain Outlet car, topped the first round of qualifying used to line up Friday night’s event with a lap of 12.912 seconds around the 4/10-mile oval. McMahan earned his 17th quick time honor of the season by posting a lap of 13.410 seconds to lead the second round of qualifying used for Saturday night’s race.

CONCORD, NC – Nov. 7, 2013 – Billy Moyer of Batesville, Ark., made a spectacular debut at the World of Outlaws World Finals, sweeping fast-time honors in both rounds of Thursday’s Qualifying Night program at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

The legendary driver was perfect in his first-ever World Finals appearance, topping an ultra-competitive field of 74 cars that were signed in for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series portion of the huge tripleheader weekend. The event also attracted 55 winged machines for the companion World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series meet and 49 entries for the Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modified action.

LAVONIA, GA – Oct. 22, 2013 – The World of Outlaws Late Model Series event scheduled for Tues., Nov. 5, at Lavonia Speedway has been canceled, track and series officials announced on Tuesday.

Lavonia promoter Stan Lester cited safety concerns related to problems with the Georgia track’s homestretch wall for prompting his decision to call off the race, which had been rescheduled from its original May 3 date by rain.

Five-time champ closes gap in quest for World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car title

ELBRIDGE, N.Y. – Oct. 12, 2013 – Donny Schatz’s remarkable World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series season continued on Saturday night at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park as he powered to his 22nd victory of the year.

Schatz, who is chasing Daryn Pittman for the series championship, put his STP/Armor All J&J on the pole for the 25-lap main event, where he was nearly untouchable in a dominating performance that sliced into Pittman’s advantage. Schatz will trail Pittman, who finished fourth, by 52 points entering the World Finals on Nov. 7-8-9 at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – Oct. 5, 2013 – Fred Rahmer sure knows how to throw a retirement party. Rahmer, the leader of the Pennsylvania Posse competing on Saturday in what is widely expected to be his final National Open at Williams Grove Speedway, won the historic event for the first time in his hall-of-fame career.

Rahmer and Steve Buckwalter swapped the lead before Rahmer moved to the front for good on lap 14 of the 40-lap, $50,000-to-win crown jewel event.

Series championship race tightens after Schatz finishes in fourth, Pittman 11th

100413 Kreitz VLMECHANICSBURG, Pa. – Oct. 4, 2013 – Don Kreitz Jr. surged past Danny Dietrich on the final lap Friday night at Williams Grove Speedway to win his first World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series event of the season and lead a Pennsylvania Posse sweep of the podium.

Dietrich held on to finish second with Brian Montieth in third. Fourth-place Donny Schatz was the top-finishing World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series driver with Greg Hodnett rounding out the top five. It’s the third time in three World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series races this season at Williams Grove that Hodnett has finished one spot behind Schatz, who won the series’ previous two events this season at the half-mile dirt oval.

Dietrich, who beat the Outlaws earlier this season at Lincoln Speedway, was a bittersweet runner-up in his Sandoes Fruit Market Maxim after leading the field to the white flag on lap 24 then losing his advantage through turns one and two.
