Schatz Sweeps World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series Weekend

Five-time champion wins for third time in a row at Knoxville Raceway

KNOXVILLE , Iowa – June 15, 2013 – Donny Schatz swept the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series weekend by capitalizing on leader Brian Brown’s slip Saturday night at Knoxville Raceway.

Schatz, the five-time and defending series champion who won on Friday night at Jackson Speedway, was running second mid-way through Saturday night’s 30-lap Mediacom Shootout when Brown tried to get through lapped traffic. Brown bounced his car off the wall, damaging the front suspension and nearly stalling it, but he was able to keep the car going without bringing out a caution.

Schatz charged ahead into the lead in his STP/Armor All J&J and drove off to victory, becoming the second driver in the past two weeks to sweep the weekend events after Craig Dollansky accomplished the feat last weekend.

Schatz Earns Sixth World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Win of the Year

Five-time champion charged from fifth to victory at Minnesota’s Jackson Speedway

JACKSON, Minn. – June 14, 2013 – Donny Schatz drove to his sixth World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series victory on Friday night in the Big Game Shootout Presented by Eyecon Trail Cameras at Jackson Speedway.

Schatz started the 30-lap feature on the inside of the third row in his Tony Stewart Racing STP/Armor All J&J and quickly worked his way to the front. By lap 10 he had moved into second behind points leader Daryn Pittman, then exchanged the lead with Pittman from laps 13 through 15.

When a caution flew with 14 laps in the books, Pittman used the restart to run out to another quick lead in the Kasey Kahne Racing Great Clips GF1, but the restart was called back when officials declared David Gravel had jumped too soon.

Schatz learned from that start and would not be beaten again. As he and Pittman charged into turn one, Pittman again went to the bottom, but this time Schatz made the high-side work and powered around Pittman. Schatz pulled away as best he could, navigating through traffic but still maintaining his advantage to the checkered flag for the series-leading sixth time this season.

Tim Kaeding Earns Fifth Victory, Claims Indiana Crown at Kokomo

Californian one of four different feature leaders in Hoosier state thriller

KOKOMO, Ind. – June 5, 2013 – Four different drivers shared the lead seven times in Wednesday night’s World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series 40-lap feature at Kokomo Speedway before Tim Kaeding finally edged Shane Stewart to win his fifth race of the season.

For Kaeding, of San Jose, Calif., it wasn’t the third time that was the charm, but the fourth at the quarter-mile bullring. Kaeding led the opening circuit of the 40-lap A-main, Jason Sides led the second lap, Kaeding went back in front on lap three, Shane Stewart then took over for the next eight laps before Kaeding again moved to the point after 13 laps and led another six before turning it over to Kyle Larson.

Larson started to take control, but then he found trouble navigating through traffic and made contact with a car he was trying to lap, dropping him back through the field and again moving Kaeding to the front on Lap 33. From that point to the checkered flag Kaeding was able to maintain the lead, although Stewart closed quickly and cut the margin of victory to only .18 seconds.
