Record-Tying Victory At The Dirt Track At Charlotte Pulls Richards Closer To World of Outlaws Late Model Series Points Lead

CONCORD, NC – Oct. 12, 2011 – Josh Richards of Shinnston, W.Va., ran away with an important victory in Wednesday night’s 50-lap World of Outlaws Late Model Showdown at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

The $10,875 triumph was Richards’s ninth of the 2011 World of Outlaws Late Model Series campaign, matching the national tour’s single-season win record established by Scott Bloomquist in 2004. It also was his 37th overall A-Main checkered flag, moving him into a tie with Billy Moyer atop the circuit’s alltime win list (1988-89, 2004-present).

As he led all 25 laps in the STP Shootout at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park in Elbridge, N.Y. to claim his 8th victory on the season. Since the Outlaws left Deer Creek Speedway on Saturday, September 17, Meyers and his Elite Racing team haven’t finished lower than 3rd.

Jason Meyers did just that as he continued his winning ways by taking the checkers in the $50,000 to win National Open at Williams Grove Speedway. Meyers has now won the last three consecutive Outlaw races at the famed half mile oval near Mechanicsburg, Pa. and the past three races on the schedule.

Rain Delays 49th Annual National Open at Williams Grove Speedway

Mother Nature forces officials to reschedule $50,000 to win event near Mechanicsburg, Pa.

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. — Oct. 1, 2011 — Due to persistent rain, track and series officials have delayed the 49th Annual Morgan Hughes National Open at Williams Grove Speedway near Mechanicsburg, Pa. Rain had been forecasted for several days but officials were hopeful that enough of an open window could be found to run the race. The event now will be run on Friday, October 7, the night before the STP Shootout at Rolling Wheels Raceway in Elbridge, N.Y.

ROSSBURG, Ohio – Sept. 23, 2011 – Riding an emotional high into Eldora Speedway on Friday night, Joey Saldana returned to the site of his greatest victories and scariest crashes with hopes of winning his second consecutive World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series race since missing nine weeks to injury.

Mission accomplished. Saldana dominated once again, winning for the second time this season at the historic half-mile dirt track that is beginning to define his career. Twice he has won the prestigious Kings Royal, but twice a potential championship run was decimated by injuries from a crash, most recently in July when he sustained a shattered arm, punctured lung and broken ribs that kept him out of the Kasey Kahne Racing Red Bull Maxim for nine weeks.

 ‘I WAS READY’: Saldana Conquers Hartford in Return to Racing 

World of Outlaws star exceeds expectations, wins in first race back since July crash

HARTFORD, Mich. – Sept. 21, 2011 – Many people told him it was too soon. His family and friends cautioned him against it. Joey Saldana, though, knew Wednesday night at Hartford Motor Speedway he was ready to return to World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series action.

With support from car owner Kasey Kahne, Saldana climbed back into the #9 Red Bull Maxim for the first time in nine weeks, since suffering a shattered right forearm, a punctured lung and broken ribs in scary crash during the Kings Royal in July at Eldora Speedway. He never looked back. Saldana earned the pole position at the half-mile dirt oval and dominated the 25-lap feature for his fifth victory of the season and the most uplifting win of his career.

PEVELY, MO – Sept. 17, 2011 – Josh Richards continued his assault on the World of Outlaws Late Model Series record book – and the top spot in the points standings – with a convincing victory in Saturday night’s 29th annual Pepsi Nationals at I-55 Raceway.

The national tour’s two-time defending champion was flawless in the 55-lap A-Main. He roared off the outside pole to grab the lead at the start and never looked back, controlling the entire distance without facing a single serious challenge.
