Inside Line Promotions – EDMONTON, Alberta, Canada (Aug. 31, 2015) – Jason Sides capped the 9th annual Oil City Cup by tying his career-best result at Castrol Raceway on Saturday.

“It didn’t start out very well,” he said. “We put a motor back in the car that we had some troubles with earlier in the year. We thought we had it fixed and was hoping for a better result. The gremlins are still there. We worked on it throughout the night on Friday and that put us behind the eight ball.”

Saldana Racks up 14th Quick Time of the Season Saturday at Castrol Raceway

EDMONTON, Alberta (Aug. 29, 2015) – Tonight was the finale of the World of Outlaws Oil City Cup competition at Castrol Raceway. Joey Saldana swept the Oil City Cup competition in 2009, and was looking for a victory tonight to add to his podium finish last night, but Lady Luck was not riding with him.

In keeping with his Brownsburg Bullet nickname, Saldana drove a quick, fast and flawless lap in the Motter Equipment HE&M Saw Beltline Body Shop 71M to capture his 14th quick time of the season. The series’ leading qualifier ran a best lap of 14.707 seconds on a track that was drying out due to 30 mph sustained winds.

Saldana rolled off fourth in the starting lineup of the opening heat. At the green, polesitter Jacob Allen led the pack with Saldana running fourth. After a caution on lap three, and after competition resumed, Saldana advanced to third. At the checkered flag it was Allen with the heat victory, Saldana third, with both drivers transferring to the dash.

Saldana Third Friday at Castrol Raceway in Canada

EDMONTON, Alberta (Aug. 28, 2015) – The opening night of Oil City Cup competition got underway tonight at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton under clear skies, with no rain in sight. A nice welcome for the World of Outlaws who encountered two rain outs during their last trip across the northern border.

On a track where the Motter team drew a number late in the time trial order which might have presented a pretty big hurdle for most, Joey Saldana, in true ‘Bullet’ form, wheeled the Motter Equipment HE&M Saw Beltline Body Shop Sprint Car to the No. 3 qualifying position, tying Donny Schatz’s 13.398-second time.

Joey Saldana Motter Team Prepare for Castrol Raceway Weekend

EDMONTON, Alberta (Aug. 25, 2015) – As Joey Saldana and the Motter Equipment HE&M Saw Beltline Body Shop team prepare to drive across the northern border into Canada to compete for the Oil City Cup, they hope that Mother Nature stands down. Approximately four weeks ago, the World of Outlaws teams were in Canada for three events, two of which rained out.

“That was a disappointing trip,” said Saldana. “Obviously we have no control over the weather but we hope our trip to Castrol Raceway this Friday and Saturday, Aug. 28 and 29 is rain free, not just for the teams, but for the fans. We don’t get into Canada often, maybe five races or so a season, and we appreciate the enthusiasm the Canadian fans show for our sport.”
