Friday the 13th Top-Ten Highlights Tulare Weekend

Craig Dollansky and the Destiny Motorsports #7 team shifted attention to Thunderbowl Raceway this past weekend as ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ aimed to score his first victory of the season similar to 2013 when the Elk River, Minnesota native scored his first win of the year.

Starting the night 9th fastest in qualifying around the ultra-fast 1/3-mile, the MonDak Portables #7 would start on the outside pole of heat four and rocket around the cushion to take the lead and ultimately the win of the eight lap event. Unaffected by the dash inversion draw, Dollansky started seventh in the dash and finished 8th.

Perseverance Prevails for Schatz at Thunderbowl

The World of Outlaws (WoO) Sprint Car Series campaign is filled with plenty of challenges and getting through the 11-race, early season California swing is one of the more difficult. Six-time and reigning WoO champion Donny Schatz, driver of the No. 15 Bad Boy Buggies/Chevrolet Performance J&J for Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing (TSR), and his TSR team overcame tough luck early in Friday night’s 35-lap WoO A-Feature at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, California, and posted finishes of eighth and fourth in the weekend doubleheader.

Shark Racing Successful and Smart During Thunderbowl Doubleheader with Outlaws

Inside Line Promotions – TULARE, Calif. (March 16, 2015) – Shark Racing will chalk last weekend up as a success after the duo of Jacob Allen and Logan Schuchart combined to make three World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series features and exited the weekend without tearing up any equipment at Thunderbowl Raceway.

“We brought our cars home in one piece in Tulare, which is pretty huge,” Allen said. “It’s stressful for sure. You have to be on your toes. It has some rough spots on the track that if you hit it can bounce you around. You have to hang on, keep your eyes open and be smart. You still have to race and go for it, but just be alert of your surroundings at all times.”

Schuchart earned his way into the main event both nights at the third-mile oval. He qualified 24th quickest and finished fifth in a heat race to lockinto the feature on Friday night before timing in 16th quickest, placing sixth in a heat and finishing second in the Last Chance Showdown to garner a transfer on Saturday.

Sides Drives to World of Outlaws Hard Charger Award at Thunderbowl

Inside Line Promotions – TULARE, Calif. (March 15, 2015) – Jason Sides is happy the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series races at Thunderbowl Raceway are behind him.

Sides salvaged a pair of top 20s last weekend with the premier sprint car series at the tricky track.

“We got out of there without tearing anything up,” he said. “Me and Thunderbowl Raceway don’t really get along. It’s got long straightaways with tight corners and it’s rough. It’s not my style of racing.”

Sixth Place for Saldana on Saturday

TULARE, Calif. (March 14, 2015) – Saturday: a new day for the Motter Equipment HE&M Saw Beltline Body Shop team. And Joey Saldana’s birthday.

Not a team to wallow in yesterday’s carnage, Saldana and Dan Motter’s crew were focused on rising to the racing occasion for night two of World of Outlaws competition at Thunderbowl Raceway.

“There is a saying,” said Motter, “‘Life is too short to start your day with broken pieces of yesterday, it will definitely destroy your wonderful today and ruin your great tomorrow.’

Saldana Leads 12 Laps, Gets Caught Up in Wreck

TULARE, Calif. (March 13, 2015) –In Western superstition, Friday the 13th is considered an unlucky day, but one lucky driver and team competing in the World of Outlaws event at Thunderbowl Raceway would walk away with the trophy and $10,000 in prize money.

Joey Saldana, driver of the Motter Equipment HE&M Saw Beltline Body Shop 71M Sprint Car, owns the most victories at Thunderbowl, claiming four (2007, 2009, 2010, and 2011). The Brownsburg Bullet has had a stellar start to the season and led the point standings coming into tonight’s seventh race of the season. Though he had notched a second and third place finish this year, the Bullet was eager for a victory.

Bad Boy Buggies Driver Looking To Snap California Drought

INDIANAPOLIS (March 12, 2015) – Sometimes the details within statistics make one wonder. Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing’s (TSR) Donny Schatz has found victory lane 50 times in World of Outlaws (WoO) Sprint Car Series action since the start of the 2013. Remarkably, not one of those wins came on California soil. This weekend, the six-time and reigning WoO champion is looking to reverse that trend when he and the Outlaws open an 11-race tour of California at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare Friday and Saturday night.

The driver of the TSR No. 15 Bad Boy Buggies/Chevrolet Performance J&J is looking to end a 20-race winless draught in the Golden State that dates back to September 9, 2012. No driver has been more dominant over the past two seasons than the Fargo, North Dakota driver who set career-best totals for wins in the past two seasons – 23 in 2013 and 26 last year. Schatz was close to winning races in California both seasons, but wasn’t able to break through. Six of his 173 career WoO A-Feature triumphs have come in California and, with his sights set on a second consecutive WoO title and the seventh of his career, he knows succeeding in California over the next six weeks would go a long way in his quest for another WoO crown.

Shark Racing Caps World of Outlaws Weekend in Desert With Good Showing in Tucson

Inside Line Promotions – TUCSON, Ariz. (March 10, 2015) – Shark Racing drivers Logan Schuchart and Jacob Allen capped last weekend with their best result during a World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series tripleheader in the desert on Saturday at USA Raceway during the NAPA Wildcat Shootout.

Schuchart, who qualified eighth quickest before placing seventh in a heat race and second in the Last Chance Showdown, recorded a 10th-place result in the main event. It was his first top 10 of the season with the World of Outlaws.

“Running with the competition we have to run with, especially right now when you have all the big names in the Midwest joining the Outlaws, to get a top 10 is definitely a plus,” he said. “The first couple of laps of the feature were real racy. I felt like I had a good car before the rubber came in. It only lasted about five laps before the track took rubber and then everybody had to move down and roll around the bottom.”

Saldana Leads Points Heading into Thunderbowl Doubleheader

TULARE, Calif. (March 10, 2015) – It took the Motter Equipment HE&M Saw Beltline Body shop team only five races to take the World of Outlaws point lead, the earliest in the season they have topped the leaderboard since Dan Motter came back as a team owner in 2013.

As the Outlaws head into a doubleheader at Thunderbowl Raceway, the only thing missing for veteran shoe Joey Saldana is his first victory of the season.
