EMOTIONAL WIN: McMahan Claims Victory in the Brad Doty Classic

TELFORD, PA. – July 16, 2014 – Paul McMahan had to sit in the car for a few minutes. He had just been pushed from the scales to the front stretch. Along the way, he had been declared the winner of the annual Brad Doty Classic at Limaland Motorsports Park in Lima, Ohio.

“I needed that time to compose myself,” said McMahan, a California native. “Brad is one of my heros and to win a race that is a tribute to him is unreal. He is a such a humble man that I don’t think he realizes just how much of a legend and a hero his is to all of us. I’ve won a lot of races in my career but winning the Doty shot straight to the top. We had a great car all night and our battle with Sammy (Swindell) was fun. I followed him up high for a few laps before I dove low and was able to make it stick to get around him.”

MIDWEST ROUND UP: Pair of Top-5’s Open July for CJB Motorsports

Over 200 years later, the same image of the traveling desperados lives on in the form of race car drivers. Rather than being mounted on horseback, they strap in to fire breathing winged chariots built for the sole purpose of being the first one to grab that elusive bag of cash.
