Champions of Character: Elite Racing Captures Back-to-Back World of Outlaws titles

Champions do not become champions when they win the event, but in the hours, weeks, months and years they spend preparing for it. A victorious performance itself is merely the demonstration of their championship character” (T. Alan Armstrong). A season that encompasses ten months of racing action can be very grueling. Jason Meyers and his Elite Racing team may have not been a favorite to take back-to-back titles after the first five months of racing action, but they used that time to grow stronger. Then in July, the hours of work the team had put in became apparent. During those final five months is when the victories came and the true character of the team showed. Through togetherness and hard work, this weekend Meyers became just the fourth driver in World of Outlaws history to win back-to-back titles.

Firece Friday Night

After being rained out following one of two qualifying sessions on Thursday, Craig Dollansky and the Big Game Treestands #7 team returned to The Dirt Track at Charlotte on Friday for a big day of racing as they completed qualifying for Saturday and then continued with the originally scheduled Friday program.

Kraig Kinser Heads to Charlotte for the Season-Ending World Finals

World Finals Preview

Trick or treat? — Tonight most of us will hear those famous words as our houses are visited by numerous children celebrating Halloween. When the 2011 season began, most people would have said that Jason Meyers and the Elite Racing team were getting a trick. After all, it did take until July for the team to notch their first win of the season. Then again, the past month it has been all treats with the run of 5 consecutive victories and the team having a run of 14 top-5 finishes that has been going since Skagit Speedway at the beginning of September. Before the true “treats” begin, it is time to celebrate the holiday. This leaves us with the question, what Halloween costume would Jason Meyers choose if he was going to dress up and take his two girls tick-or-treating?

Talladega Trip: Meyers winning streak ends at five with a fourth place run at Talladega

 

As the saying goes, “all good things must come to an end.” Elite Racing’s five race winning streak this weekend ended at the Talladega Short Track, but that does not tarnish the dominance that Jason Meyers has shown in the last two months. Also, Meyers became the first driver in ten years to win five consecutive races. As competitive as the World of Outlaws series is, Meyers has turned the 2011 season around and is close to emerging from the year as Champion.

On the Podium: Kraig Kinser Finishes Third at Talladega Short Track

Granger, IA—Oct. 23, 2011— Having a race car that gets faster as the night goes on, is something that most drivers and crews strive for on the World of Outlaws circuit. Kraig Kinser was in that exact position on Saturday night at Talladega (Ala.) Short Track during the Sage Fruit Showdown as he powered his way to a third-place finish aboard the Casey’s General Store Maxim, picking up a number of positions over the second half of the 35-lap main event.

Schatz, Kinser and Stewart Succeed in Outlaws’ Return to Talladega

The Sage Fruit Showdown at Talladega (Ala.) Short Track on Saturday night proved to be a showcase for Tony Stewart Racing’s (TSR) Steve Kinser, Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart. Each driver had his moment in the spotlight as the Outlaws returned to the 1/3-mile high-banked, clay oval for the first time since the spring of 2004. When the dust settled following the 35-lap A-Feature, Schatz had earned his ninth runner-up finish of the season, Kinser collected his 30th top-five, and Stewart showed why he is regarded as one of the most talented drivers in motorsports.

Talladega Night: Kraig Kinser Hits the Dirt in the Deep South

Granger, IA—Oct. 19, 2011— Kraig Kinser is no stranger to Victory Lane at Talladega. In fact, he won in his most recent start at the track in 2005, though that was at Talladega Superspeedway, the monstrous 2.66-mile paved oval. The second generation driver will return to the one-third-mile dirt oval across the street this weekend for the first time since 2003, as the World of Outlaws visit Talladega Short Track on Saturday, October 22 for the “Talladega Sage Fruit Showdown.”
