INDIANAPOLIS (Aug. 31, 2011) – The World of Outlaws (WoO) Sprint Car Series season is a long and grueling journey that starts in February and ends in November. Over the course of the 10-month season, drivers and teams are put in numerous situations that test every aspect of their competitive spirit. After a weekend in oil-rich Edmonton, Alberta, Tony Stewart Racing’s (TSR) Steve Kinser and Donny Schatz will venture to the great Northwest for three nights of racing over the Labor Day weekend. The action begins with races at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash., on Friday and Saturday nights and concludes Monday with an event at Cottage Grove (Ore.) Speedway.

Close to Completely Conquering Canada: Elite Racing comes close to pulling off Edmonton Sweep

Edmonton, Canada has many nick names. This week after racing at Black Hills Speedway, Jason Meyers and his Elite Racing team traveled to “The Gateway of the North.” When they arrived in the “Oil City,” it seemed fitting that the 2010 Oil Cup and World of Outlaws champion would walk away victorious from “The City of Champions.” During the first night of action in the “River City” Meyers rolled to his fourth win of the season. The second night was not quite as festive in the “The Festival City” as the team would come close to pulling off the sweep but fell short. When the team left “E-Town,” they still held their heads high as they lead the point standings by 87 points going into the West Coast Tour.

Tony Stewart Racing Teams Earn Podium Finishes in Edmonton

The World of Outlaws (WoO) Sprint Series made its second stop north of the border this past weekend and the Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) tandem of Steve Kinser and Donny Schatz made its presence known in the fifth annual Oil City Cup at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, Alberta. Schatz, who has been very fast behind the wheel of the TSR No. 15 STP/Armor All/Chevrolet J&J since the calendar turned to August, was in contention for victory both nights only to come up one spot short on Friday and three laps short of victory on Saturday. Kinser, who came into the Oil City Cup with two wins and a runner-up finish in his previous three races, charged into the top-five Friday in the TSR No. 11 Bass Pro Shops/J.D. Byrider/ Chevrolet Maxim before being involved in a late accident, then led the first 19 laps on Saturday before ultimately finishing third.

Granger, IA—August 28, 2011—In Sprint Car Racing, everything has to be taken in stride and put in the proper perspective, as another race is usually just around the corner. Schatz Claims 5th Nationals Title

The biggest week of racing in the World of Outlaws (WoO) Sprint Series occurs every August in the small town of Knoxville, Iowa, and the results are usually heard around the world. The 51st running of the Goodyear Knoxville Nationals concluded late Saturday night when Tony Stewart Racing’s (TSR) Donny Schatz took the checkered flag in the 50-lap main event. The fact that Schatz earned the victory shouldn’t surprise many. It was his fifth in the last six years and also his 10th finish of first or second in the last 12 Nationals. However, it was the manner in which he earned it. The four-time WoO champion was forced to start the TSR No. 15 STP/Armor All/ Chevrolet J&J 13th because of an engine failure in Wednesday night’s opening preliminary feature. Undeterred, Schatz was the star of the show, moving forward quickly and taking the lead on lap 14. Once in front, the Fargo, N.D., racer drove a perfect race to earn his 110th career WoO A-Feature win.
